'Tis the grand day on,

A long day at school,

A longer day at school

After school,

And longer laughs

Passing the way home;

Mid-day meal

And from-home tiffin

And egg chow-mein,

All gulped in, delight added;

Blue light filtered

Through the newly hung

Shamianas, lamp-light

Cast by the eve-lighted

Street lamps, and unlighted

Dark corridors - eerie shadows

All seen, mythical;

Paintings worked on

Tense-joy prevailing,

Forms revealing -

Day unfolding...
